Alma Moreno is a Filipino actress, politician, and former dancer. She was born Venesa Laxamana on May 25, 1959 in Cervantes, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Moreno began her entertainment career as a dancer and eventually became a popular actress in the Philippine film and television industry in the 1970s and 1980s.
In 1992, Alma Moreno entered politics and was elected as a councilor in Paranaque City, Metro Manila. She later served as Vice Mayor from 2004 to 2007, and as a member of the Philippine House of Representatives from 2007 to 2016.
Moreno has been known for her colorful personal life and public controversies, including her relationships and marriages to prominent personalities in the entertainment industry. She has also faced criticisms for her lack of experience in governance and controversial statements on various issues.
In 2021, Alma Moreno announced that she would be running for a Senate seat in the 2022 Philippine general elections under the party Lakas-CMD.
